East Budleigh completed an early season double with this victory at Magelake Meadows Culm thanks largely to a brace from Player Manager Matt Jones.
This venue has been a happy hunting ground for Jones who also scored twice their last season.
But Budleigh did not have things all their own way early on as the home side had them under the cosh.
Budleigh weathered the storm and had a good chance to take the lead from the penalty spot but the kick from Hugo Demetre was saved.
The deadlock was eventually broken before half-time when Ryan Britton set up George Harris who scored his first goal for the club.
Budleigh played better football after the re-start and went two ahead when Harris turned provider for Matt Jones to score.
Now in control of proceedings Jones added his second and Budleigh’s third rising to head home a corner from Liam Mabin.
There was a brief glimmer of hope for the home side a quarter of an hour from the end when they made it 3-1, before the win was completed by Mabin whose cross went into the net at the back post, assisted by Demetre.
Jones and Mabin were the stand out players for Budleigh who return to Vicarage road to host the students of Exeter University on Saturday.
East Budeigh Reserves are in action at Exmouth Amateurs 3rds (Both 3pm).
