It was a disappointing afternoon for East Budleigh Reserves who were beaten by two goals in five minutes midway through the second half of this local derby.

The first half saw both sides struggle to gain fluency with the game devoid of goalmouth action.

Half chances came for Madison Shaw after good approach play from Jack Rowland, whilst Corbin Couch saw his shot comfortably saved.

The away side has their moments but keeper Drew Shorrock was well protected by Joe Day and Paul May.

After the interval Charlie Copplestone fired marginally over with the outside of his right boot, but it was Ammies who got the all important first goal.

The second and clinching goal was a well struck shot that gave Shorrock no chance.

Budleigh tried hard to find a comeback with Shaw denied twice by the visiting keeper, but it wasn’t to be their day.

For Budleigh Day was probably their best player.

This Saturday Budleigh are on their travels in the Intermediate Cup when they visit Islington Villa. (kick-off 2pm) The First X1 were beaten at 100% side Bampton last Saturday with Ryan Britton grabbing a consolation on a forgetable afternoon. This Saturday they are back in action at Vicarage Road where they host Clyst Valley. (kick-off 2-15pm)
