East Budleigh began 2017 with a fine team performance to beat hosts Tedburn St Mary last Saturday.
In the corresponding fixture before Christmas Budleigh won 4-1 with a brace from George Harris and solitary strikes from Hugo Demetre and Adam Jones and it was deja-vu as the same goal scorers won the points.
Budleigh started well and were ahead in ten minutes; A corner to the back post saw Demetre set up Adam Jones to head home.
Ten minutes later Budleigh doubled their advantage with another good move that saw Demetre set up Harris who cleverly lobbed the keeper.
On the half hour Tedburn pulled one back, but the two goal buffer was restored before the interval; Demetre claiming a hat-trick of assists as Harris netted his second and Budleigh’s third.
After a busy first half Budleigh went in search of more and Demetre was rewarded with a goal latching onto a raking long ball from Jack England to make it 4-1.
The home side did add another consolation a quarter of an hour before time, but it was a deserved three points for the Jays.
Demetre. unsurprisingly claimed the Man of the Match award for a Budleigh side who are on their travels again this Saturday at Clyst Valley.
