DIV 2 – EAST BUDLEIGH 1 BOW 2
East Budleigh were missing a number of players last Saturday for their league fixture against a robust Bow side and eventually lost by the odd goal.
Budleigh called upon Liam Mathew and Kai Guise who stepped up from the Reserves and both gave there all for a Budleigh side who took an early 5th minute lead; Jack Greenslade swung in a corner for Adam Jones to rise and head home.
The hosts were having the better of it; George Harris flashed a shot wide when set up by West, whilst at the other end captain Dan Reynolds was having a good half covering in the centre of defence.
Budleigh were forced to replace the inspirational Greenslade following one of a number of nasty challenges from the visitors.
Five minutes before the break Budleigh were punished for a loss of concentration and Bow duly levelled.
In the second half the game looked to be heading for a draw, but Bow sneaked ahead in the 68th minute forcing Budleigh to go in search of an equalizer; Jack Rowland, Josh Whiller, Owen Corrick and Guise all tried their luck in the last twenty.
This Saturday Budleigh are at Exeter University. (kick-off 2.15pm)
East Budleigh Reserves travelled to Okehampton in Division 8 and came up against a home side featuring a number of Premier league players. This spoilt the game which the home side won 6-1.
Josh Rowland scored a consolation for Budleigh who host Sandford at Vicarage Road next Saturday. (kick-off 2.15pm)
