DIV 9 East Budleigh Reserves 3 Tedburn St Mary Reserves 2
This was a fine battling performance from East Budleigh Reserves who won by the odd goal in five last Saturday.
It was the away side who struck first opening their account midway through the half, but Budleigh bounced back to shock their opponents with three goals in a twelve minute spell.
Ben Wilks levelled things up with a tidy finish, before Joe Walker put Budleigh in front; His superbly hit free-kick rifled into the top corner.
A minute before the break Julian Green was fouled in the box leaving Tom Christian to confidently convert the resultant penalty kick.
The second half was not as comfortable for Budleigh as the away side upped the anti; Budleigh keeper Drew Shorrock made a couple of sharp saves to keep his team ahead after Tedburn had reduced their arrears.
Josh Whiller entered the action for Budleigh and hooked an effort just wide, but Budleigh held on to the points thanks to a well timed tackle from Lewis Fletcher and some calm defending from Man of the match Jack Morgan.
This Saturday Budleigh visit Thorverton Reserves for their league encounter.
DIV 2 Bow 2 East Budleigh 2
East Budleigh came away from this match with a share of the spoils, but felt a bit hard done by after a late dubious penalty for the hosts.
The home side went ahead, before Liam Matthew equalised with a drive from just outside the box.
After the break Budleigh turned the game on its head when Dan Atkinson produced a wonder strike from 25 yards that gave the Bow stopper no chance.
The penalty levelled things up once again ten minutes from time, but it was Hugo Demetre who was denied a winner by a top class save late on.
Demetre just shaded Steve Hitchcock for the Man of the match vote for a Budleigh side who host Thorverton this Saturday at Vicarage Road.
