Football returned to East Budleigh last Saturday for the first time this year, but the Reserves were unable to match league leaders Okehamoton Argyle who ran out 4-1 winners.
An early strike for the away side set the tone for the first half as Budleigh struggled to create chances with their passing and final ball letting them down and a second goal before the break put Okehampton in the driving seat.
The second period saw Budleigh improve and two minutes after the restart Liam West picked out Jack Howarth, who was starting for the first time since his return to the club after injury, he cut back onto his left foot and curled a stylish finish past the visiting keeper.
With the bit between their teeth Ben Wilks produced a peach of a cross for Howarth who saw his header go agonisingly the wrong side of the post.
A third on the break for the away side restored the three goal cushion as Budleigh saw West, Corbin Couch and George Harris all have opportunities.
A fourth for Okehampton completed the scoring.
For Budleigh the return of Howarth was a big plus, whilst Gareth Morrey did well.
This Saturday the Reserves visit neighbours Otterton, whilst the First X1 will hope to play for only the second time in 2018 when they host Exeter University. (both 3pm)
