Div 2 – East Budleigh 1 Woodbury 2
In what was a competitive local derby league leaders Woodbury ran out winners, but only after a second half fight back from East Budleigh.
In what was a scrappy first half the away side started the better and after Matt Jones had made an excellent block it was Morgan Pearce who broke the deadlock after 25 minutes.
Clear opportunities were hard to come by, although when Dan Atkinson found himself clear he could only hit his effort into the keepers arms.
Liam Mabin flashed an effort wide and Liam West fired over when set up by Hugo Demetre, before the break.
Woodbury increased their lead four minutes into the second half when Lee Chapman rose to take advantage of sloppy Budleigh defending.
Jack Howarth joined the action for Budleigh and got his team back into the game with a cute finish from a tight angle.
The game was now an end to end affair as Budleigh searched for an equalizer and Woodbury for a clincher; The Jays came closest with the last kick when a corner from Howarth grazed the top of the crossbar, leaving the visitors with the three points.
Budleigh will look to return to winning ways when they visit Halwill this Saturday and then travel to Clyst Valley in the Grandisson Cup on Sunday.
The Reserves return to action with a home game against Honiton 3rds.
